Microsoft announced Microsoft 365 G7, the Frontier Suite for government, bringing the Intelligence + Trust vision introduced with Microsoft 365 E7 to Government Community Cloud (GCC) environments.

What G7 brings together

G7 extends the Microsoft 365 G5 foundation — productivity, information protection, security, and compliance — with Microsoft Entra Suite identity and network security, unifying productivity, AI, agents, security, identity, compliance, and governance for public sector organizations.

AI embedded in the flow of work

At general availability, G7 brings Microsoft Copilot into a unified offering for government, grounded by Work IQ in organizational data and context, to support research, synthesis, and drafting inside everyday Microsoft 365 apps. Following GA, government clouds will also receive the latest GPT models, Work IQ memory and personalization, Edit with Copilot in Word/Excel/PowerPoint, and Copilot Cowork for longer-running, multi-step work.

Agents at the mission’s edge

G7 provides an agentic foundation for specialized government work — research, policy analysis, case management, grants, inspections, and constituent service — with:

  • Ready-made Microsoft agents such as Researcher and Analyst, plus Agent Builder for custom experiences
  • Custom agents built with Microsoft Copilot Studio for specialized missions
  • Microsoft 365 Copilot Connectors and managed connections to bring in agency knowledge and line-of-business data securely

Agent 365: a control plane for agent adoption

Agent 365 gives agencies a unified way to discover, register, and manage agents, with governance actions like deploying, blocking, or removing them — addressing the blind spots that come with fast-growing agent adoption.

Availability

Both Microsoft 365 G7 and Agent 365 will be available for GCC customers to purchase on October 1, with capabilities expanding in phases as additional workloads complete required GCC authorization milestones.
